Outreach
We have been active in sharing our excitement about our FRC Team Illusion 4664 with the community. Here is a list of a few of the activities we have been involved in since our team began in the fall of 2012...
2012
Sep. 15: Battle of Baltimore. Four of our Team Illusion attended. (www.battleobaltimore.com)
October: Senior Mentor Orientation of FRC preparation. Capitol College
Oct. 26: The Annual Comer Workshop for Prince Georges Educators was on Oct. 26. The pictures are from that day at Eleanor Roosevelt HS. Lt. Gov Brown stayed with us for about 20 minutes. He visited the FLL kids at the SSVT later on.
November 3: Visit to Johns Hopkins APL for Baltimore Area Alliance Training.
November 6: The outreach event at Lanham Christian School in Lanham MD Goodluck RoadNov.
November 10: IROC Haymarket VA event. Four members participated in the FRC preseason event.
November 13: Visit to Elizabeth Seton. Joe Buckley presented Team Illusion to two period classes (over 50 students were attending).
December 3: Visit to Pallotti HS
December 5: Greenbelt MS Annual Science Day
December 12:FRC training at George Mason HS
2013
January 5: FRC kickoff at Capitol College
January 12: Electrical presentation & mentoring at UMD for DC FIRST Technical Assist Day. Caleb Schaeffer and Joseph Cashmore presented. Over 40 students & mentors attended.
January 26: Ballou High School students moved in with us at our Orbit Lane location so we could help them build their robot.
February 9: KIPP Academy DC joined us at Orbit Lane to learn how to set up their electronics board
February 16: Team Illusion 4464 met the Virginia Secretary of Commerce Cheng at a pre-season scrimmage hosted by the Hanover High School and had an opportunity to share our vision with him.
February 27: Visit to Riverdale Elementary School. Joe Buckley and Reed Bolger presented to principal Cheryl Hughes on starting an FLL team. 4464 members will be returning in the Spring to assist with the creation of this new team.
March 8: Design Reviews at University of Maryland. Reed Bolger, Joe Buckley, Caleb Schaeffer, and Chenelle Foster to present.
March 8: MD/DC FIRST presentation at University of Maryland in conjunction with Bill Duncan and Don Brobst . Representatives from Teams 4464, 449, & 53 to present. (approximately 50 expected to attend)
March 9: Presentation at 16th Annual Girls STEM Symposium. Chenelle Foster to present. (approximately 40 expected to attend)
