Then we enjoyed the incredible ride through the finals until our Alliance won the tournament. It was a wild 4 days of ups and downs, and the final matches were nail biters.

We just finished out first full day of competition for the 2014 season of Aerial Assist, We are competing at the DC Regional being hosted at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. Our robot did very well though it had some trouble with two motors that we had to work on at the end of the day. We have really appreciated all the help other teams have provided for us, particularly Team 449 from Blair High School.

<![CDATA[Waiting for Our First Tournament]]>Tue, 25 Feb 2014 21:39:07 GMThttp://teamillusion4464.weebly.com/2014-blog/waiting-for-our-first-tournamentNow that our robot is bagged and tagged we will be spending time working on building another bot with which to test code. It won't be identical to our gorgeous finished 2014 Robot, but it will have enough functionality to allow us to work on code and some other things. It will also give us more opportunity to work with team members on the various details of the robot, teaching them more about electrical and mechanical issues.

In addition to working on the code we will be preparing our Pit for the tournaments, making our banner, poster boards, and a lot of other materials that we will hand out during the tournaments. It will be an excellent time for the team members to refresh their memories of all the amazing things we've accomplished over the 2014 Build Season.

Our mentor Eli came and realized that we needed to redo our electrical board so that we would be able to access the board during competitions. There were many confusing and muddled wires so Eli helped the team members redo the wiring in a logical and safe way.

There are definitely challenges in having a compact robot. Some of those include the necessity to organize all wires, pneumatics and cylinders so that nothing gets crimped or destroyed.

<![CDATA[Lots of Details]]>Sun, 16 Feb 2014 21:46:35 GMThttp://teamillusion4464.weebly.com/2014-blog/lots-of-detailsDetail Work at the End of Build Season
The Team Illusion 4464 Mechanical, Electrical and Controls team are now working on the precise detail work. Many very small changes are necessary as parts are put onto the robot. When one part is successfully attached the robot it often necessitates the adjustment of another part's placement. This is very important in the creation of such a compact robot.
